Sebright
True bantam created by Sir John Sebright around 1800, with crisp black lacing on silver or gold ground. Cocks are hen-feathered, lacking pointed sickles and hackles. A show breed with famously tricky fertility.
Small, active flyers that need covered runs. Chicks are delicate; keep brooders warm and dry, and shelter adults from cold rain.
“The low carriage of wings and well-spread tail give to these beautiful birds a most distinctive and striking appearance.”
Disqualifications: Combs other than rose; absence of spike; cocks or cockerels with hackle extending over shoulders or sickles more than an inch and a half beyond tail proper; shanks other than slaty-blue; birds over disqualifying weights.
