Scots Dumpy
Scottish breed with legs so short the body nearly brushes the ground, from the same lethal short-leg gene as the Japanese Bantam. An old crofter's fowl and dependable broody. Rare and maintained by conservation breeders.
Ground-hugging birds foul quickly in mud; give dry runs in wet weather. Breed short-legged to long-legged stock to avoid the lethal gene in double dose.
