Production Red
A production cross with no breed standard. Chicks hatched from these birds will vary from their parents.
Commercial laying strain derived from Rhode Island Red and New Hampshire lines, lighter in color and body than heritage RIR and selected hard for egg output. Sold by most hatcheries as a high-volume brown layer.
Rugged and adaptable anywhere. Like other production strains, expect heavy lay for two seasons and plan replacements.
