Phoenix

Also known as: Onagadori-type longtail (Onagadori itself is a separate Japanese breed)

German-developed longtail from Onagadori-descended Japanese stock crossed to hardier breeds. The Onagadori does not molt. Phoenix cocks do molt, and they still grow tails of two to five feet. Silver is the classic variety.

Keeper's notes

Keep cocks on high roosts with dry ground so the tail stays intact, which means covered housing through a wet winter. They are hardier than the looks suggest.
