Manx Rumpy
A rumpless landrace with no tailhead vertebrae at all, so the back rounds off where a tail would rise. The name winks at the Manx cat; the stock likely traces to Persia rather than the Isle of Man. American flocks have kept the type going for generations without a written standard.
Tough, self-reliant birds that thrive on range. The missing tail costs roosters some balance in the breeding pen, so fertility runs below normal. Hens brood readily and defend chicks hard. Expect variety in color from any honest flock.
