Malay
The tallest chicken breed, standing up to three feet, with a strawberry comb, beetle brow, and three-arched profile of neck, back, and tail. An old Oriental game type refined in England. Slow to mature and a sparse layer.
Needs tall housing and high protein, plus protection from cold rain given its hard, scant feathering. Beginners should start elsewhere. Give birds generous space to prevent scuffles.
“Head broad and long, the crown heavy and projecting over the eyes, giving a fierce, cruel expression; back long and slanting, feathers short, lying close, hard, firm and strong.”
Disqualifications: Single or lopped combs; shanks or feet other than yellow in color; duck feet.
