Ixworth
White English table breed created by Reginald Appleyard in the 1930s from Sussex, Orpington, and game blood. It fleshes out fast, carries a pea comb, and lays respectably for a meat bird. The breed is very rare, and rarer still in North America.
Pea comb and tight white feathering carry them through a cool-climate winter. For pastured meat outside the Cornish Cross system, this is a strong heritage pick.
