Icelandic
A landrace brought to Iceland by Norse settlers around the 9th century and kept since with almost no outside blood. There is no standard appearance; combs, colors, and crests vary bird to bird. The hens forage hard and mother well.
They live outdoors through cold, wet weather and ask almost nothing of you, about as low-maintenance as a flock gets. Keep the bloodlines pure. Cross them and the landrace is gone.
