Egyptian Fayoumi
An ancient landrace from the Nile delta, kept along the river for centuries. Silver-penciled plumage on a small, upright frame. Pullets start laying around four months, early for any chicken. The breed carries a reputation for unusual disease resistance and draws research interest for it.
Built for Egyptian heat. Wet winter cold asks a lot of them, so give a dry, tight coop. They fly well, range far, and spot hawks before anything else in the yard does. Handle chicks often or the adults stay wild. Feed bills run low when they can forage.
