Easter Egger

Also known as: EE, Americana (hatchery spelling), Fibro Easter Egger
Hybrid

A production cross with no breed standard. Chicks hatched from these birds will vary from their parents.

Any mixed-ancestry bird carrying the blue egg gene counts as an Easter Egger, and there is no standard for it. Appearance varies widely, and many have muffs, beards, and pea combs. Each hen lays one egg color for life, commonly blue, green, or pinkish tint. Fibro Easter Eggers add black skin from fibromelanistic breeds.

Keeper's notes

Tough, low-fuss birds that do fine in nearly any backyard, and the pea comb shrugs off cold. Because they are crossbred, you rarely see the health problems tied to a single breed.
