Deathlayer
Four-century-old German landrace whose name Totleger gets rendered 'lays until death,' for hens said to lay steadily their whole lives. Penciled gold or silver plumage, rose comb, dark eyes. Since the 2010s the breed has been rare and fashionable in the US.
The rose comb winters well in cold damp. They forage hard and want room to range. Imported-line birds cost a lot, so build the housing secure.
