Cornish
Heavily muscled English breed developed from Asian game stock, with a wide breast, pea comb, and tight, hard feathering. Nearly every modern broiler traces its male line back to Cornish. Hens lay poorly. The carcass is outstanding.
That tight feathering insulates less than it looks like it should, so keep housing draft-free in a cold snap. Wide-set legs make high roosts risky. Keep the perches low.
“The carriage is upright, the shoulders being carried high and the stern low.”
Disqualifications: Dark variety: combs other than pea or irregular pea; solid white, blue or black shanks.
