Brabanter
An old Low Countries breed that shows up in Dutch paintings from the 1600s. A narrow forward-swept crest and a full three-clump beard give the head its look, set off by a small V comb. The crest stands upright instead of flopping over the eyes the way a Polish crest does.
The trim crest sheds rain and leaves the bird full sight of the sky, so hawk losses run lower than with Polish. Small comb points mean little frostbite. Steady layers through cold weather. Gentle birds that land low in a mixed flock's pecking order.
