Black Sex-Link
A production cross with no breed standard. Chicks hatched from these birds will vary from their parents.
Sex-linked hybrid, usually Rhode Island Red males over Barred Rock hens. Pullets hatch black and cockerels show a head spot. Grown hens are black with gold hackle lacing. They run heavier than red sex-links, hold up a little better, and lay about the same.
An easy layer that takes cold, and it will do fine in a backyard flock anywhere. Production hybrids do not breed true, so you buy replacements or re-cross them yourself.

Sourced from NPIP state directories, matched by the stock codes each participant registers. A flock may keep breeds beyond what it registers, so this list runs conservative.
