Ayam Cemani
Indonesian breed with full fibromelanosis: black feathers, skin, comb, muscle, bones, and organs. It carries real weight in Javanese culture, and it ranks among the most expensive chickens in the world. The eggs come out cream colored. Hens lay in bursts with pauses between clutches.
This is a tropical bird, so give it a dry, draft-free coop through a cold wet winter. Buy from breeders with a reputation. At Cemani prices, quality and purity vary a lot.
